Violinist Nick Danielson has forged a distinguished career as both a classical and tango musician. Raised in an Argentine-American family in Hartford, Ct., he moved to Philadelphia at age 13 to study at the Curtis Institute of Music with the legendary Ivan Galamian. During this time he won the Philadelphia Orchestra’s concerto competition and performed with the orchestra at age 15. Nick is featured in Stravinsky’s “Concertino” in the Grammy winning recording “Shadow Dances” with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and in multiple Latin Grammy winning recordings with the Pedro Giraudo Tango Quartet, pianist Fernando Otero, and the Gustavo Casenave Quartet. His duo with bandoneón legend Daniel Binelli was nominated for the Latin Grammy in consecutive years for their albums “Nostalgias” and “Marrón y Azul”. He is also the Associate Concertmaster of the NYC Ballet Orchestra with whom he performs frequently as solo violinist.
